Without Modi, BJP Won’t Cross 150 Seats": Nishikant Dubey Sparks Stir with Bold Remark

Nishikant Dubey

In a candid podcast interview (Episode 327 with ANI’s Smita Prakash), BJP MP Nishikant Dubey made headlines by stating that without Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the helm, the BJP may struggle to secure even 150 Lok Sabha seats. Dubey’s remarks spotlight what many already perceive — a party deeply reliant on Modi’s towering personality and mass appeal.

Labeling Modi as the BJP’s “mazboori” (compulsion), Dubey emphasized that voter loyalty—especially among the economically weaker sections—has been firmly rooted in Modi’s image. He further insisted that the 2029 general elections must be fought under Modi’s leadership and even went as far as to predict Modi’s leadership extending for the next 15–20 years.

His remarks gain significance amid growing speculation about Modi’s political future. In early July 2025, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat reignited the retirement age debate by subtly suggesting that leaders should step aside at 75. With Modi set to turn 75 in September, political circles buzzed with interpretations. But Dubey firmly rejected the notion, citing past Indian leaders who held office beyond the conventional age and asserting that Modi should remain until India’s 2047 development vision is fulfilled.

Dubey’s comments have not only stirred debate within the Sangh Parivar but also reignited questions about leadership transition and the party’s post-Modi roadmap. However, for now, one thing is clear: within the BJP, Modi remains irreplaceable.
